One of the central priorities within the SPCK remit was to strengthen their eCommerce proposition. They also expressed a need for a scalable platform; one which offered stability, but was also flexible enough to accommodate, as yet unknown, future demands – both in-house, and from across their range of customers.
The latest version of the Magento platform caters for these requirements superbly.
The two new sites – for SPCK and IVP – are built on the same underlying Magento 2 infrastructure, allowing for direct sales of the entire SPCK/IVP list, across print, digital, and non-book products. They also offer a raft of additional features and functionality which directly address their core demographic: discounts for church organisations, event sales, active blog, voucher redemption functionality, format bundling, plus much, much more.
The sites integrate with Bibliolive for automated product data feed, and Norwich Books and Music for print distribution.
The intuitive nature of the Magento 2 back-end allows SPCK staff – across sales, marketing and production – to seamlessly run reports, provide gratis copies, upload content/banner ads, target campaigns, and tweak pages accordingly.
Firsty was also happy to provide Merchant Service facilities for the SPCK team – a service that is increasingly being provided to d2c clients. Allowing Firsty to handle all customer transactions and end-user support significantly frees up in-house resource at SPCK – providing more time to focus on publishing and the core business.
It was a real pleasure working with the team at SPCK, and we look forward to helping grow the brand over the months and years ahead.
